                                       Keith Lindsay Memorial Tournament Rules

1. All OWHA rules shall apply. 

2. A team representative must check in at the Tournament Registration Office upstairs of Heinz Arena in the Southpoint Board Room or Wheatley Arena one hour prior to the team’s first game. All players are required to sign in prior to game. Absent players must be scratched off the game sheet.

3. Pick Up Players- Players must be currently registered on an official OWHA Roster. To be eligible according to the OWHA “pick up player Consent forms must be received before the team's first game of the tournament in order for those players to be eligible for tournament play. Please refer to Rule Two (K) of the OWHA Handbook for rules governing pick-ups.

4. Teams must be dressed and available to play 15 minutes prior to all of their scheduled games.

5. Players must have played at least one round robin game to be eligible to play in playoffs and final games.

6. There will be a timed three-minute warm up beginning immediately after the ice surface has been cleared. All games will consist of 10-10-12 stop time. There will also be no curfew and no time outs allowed in round robin play.

7. The designated home team will be required to wear an alternate colour if two teams have the same colour sweaters. Southpoint will supply alternate colours if the team has only one colour of sweater.

8. In the third period, running time will commence if there is a 5 goal differential. Stop time will resume when the goal margin is reduced to three. The clock may be stopped at the referee’s discretion for injury or for other unforeseen delays of the game.

9. Intent to injure and fighting penalties will result in the player being expelled from the game and the remainder of the tournament.

10. Round robin play will determine group placing. Each game will consist of 5 points. One point for each period won and 2 points for winning the game. And an additional One (1) bonus point for a shut out win. There will be no overtime during round robin games.

11. In the event of a tie, after completion of the round robin series, the following tie- breakers will be used.
i. Head to Head-in a two-way tie (not three-way).
ii. Best Plus/Minus in round robin play.
iii. Most goals in Round Robin.
iv. Fastest first goal of the tournament
v. Fewest Penalty Minutes
vi. Flip a Coin

12. Overtime will be played in Quarter Final, Semis and Championship games only. Overtime will be sudden victory. It will consist of one 5 minute 3 on 3 overtime. Teams do not change ends at the end of the third period. Penalties in overtime will be served as called. If a there is a penalty in overtime, it will be 4 on 3 till first stoppage of play after the penalty. At that point, 3 on 3 will resume. If there is a second penalty, it will be 5 on 3 till first stoppage of play after both penalties have been served. If still tied, a simultaneous sudden victory shoot out will break the tie. Once all players on lowest rostered team have made a penalty shot, then they will restart shooters. Any player serving a penalty that has not expired by the end of the sudden victory overtime may not participate in the shoot out.

13. One 30 second time out is allowed for Championship games only.

14. The decisions of the Southpoint tournament Officials are final.
