Shared Boundary Initiative (SBI) Update
Submitted By Darryl Glasier on Thursday, April 11, 2019
Dear Rep Parents:

As many of you are aware we have been actively working on a special arrangement referred to as the Shared Boundary Initiative (SBI) between Essex MHA, Erie North Shore MHA and Southpoint MHA. This initiative is intended to deal with a number of issues plaguing the longevity of hockey associations in the smaller communities, some of which include but are not limited to rising costs and reduced registration numbers. The intent of our “pilot” agreement is to ensure that our local families and local players have competitive hockey alternatives available to them locally within our (SBI) communities.

As a result, we will be offering a full allotment of teams within our SBI for all age groups in both A and AE. We have had many examples of amalgamated teams over the last few years which have been very successful.

Although there may be some player movement throughout the tryout process, each organization has committed to working with our neighbouring associations to clearly define where each team will be playing for the season.

Therefore, Southpoint MHA intends to ice the following Rep teams for the 2019-20 season.

2011 - Novice Major (new half ice guidelines by OMHA & Bluewater)
2010 - Atom Minor 'A'
2009 - Atom Major 'A'
2008 - Peewee minor 'A'
2007/08 - Peewee 'AE'
2005/06 - Bantam 'AE'
2004 - Midget Minor 'A'

All players who attend all tryouts and are released within their age group, are eligible to attend the combined AE teams within our shared borders.

***NOTE! ALL PLAYERS MUST REGISTER IN SOUTHPOINT MINOR HOCKEY AND PAY TRYOUT FEES TO SOUTHPOINT BY MAY 10TH IN ORDER TO ATTEND TRYOUTS. NO EXCEPTIONS!!!!***

Any questions around this agreement, or about an individual player situation, please do not hesitate to email
