Message from the President
Submitted By Andrea Symons on Wednesday, January 24, 2018
The Southpoint Minor Hockey Board of Directors would like to address the various rumours & hearsay surrounding ongoing Amalgamation/Partnership discussions taking place between our neighbouring centres Erie Northshore Minor Hockey & Essex Minor Hockey.

The following are facts as they relate to Southpoint Minor Hockey.

1. Southpoint Minor Hockey is aware that our neighbouring Associations of Erie Northshore & Essex Minor Hockey have engaged in Amalgamation/Partnership discussions.

2. Southpoint has made numerous attempts to join these discussions over the past several months.

3. Erie & Essex communicated to Southpoint that the use of Wheatley Arena was potentially a deal breaker on November 1 (Erie) & November 2 (Essex).

4. Southpoint Minor Hockey communicated to Essex & Erie on November 2 that Southpoint would be willing to discuss the Wheatley Arena issue at their next scheduled meeting but received no invite from Erie/Essex.

5. The Essex/Erie Committee requested registration #'s for each division from Southpoint Minor Hockey on November 2. Those registration #'s were provided to Essex & Erie on November 6.

6. Southpoint Minor Hockey has received no further communication from Essex/Erie since November 2, despite repeated attempts from Southpoint to engage talks. At this point Southpoint has NOT been invited to the bargaining table by our neighbours.

7. Southpoint Minor Hockey remains eager to JOIN the Amalgamation/Partnership discussions currently taking place between Erie & Essex.

8. Southpoint Minor Hockey has expressed our concerns in writing to the OMHA via our Regional Executive Member and District Vice President.

9. OMHA informed Southpoint Minor Hockey that no formal communication regarding any proposed Amalgamation/Partnership process between Erie & Essex has been received by their office.

The Southpoint Minor Hockey Board of Directors is committed to continuing to request an invitation to these discussions, and will take measures required to protect our Association and its members through channels available to us with the OMHA.

Yours In Hockey,
Greg Liebrock
President
